Polaris Supreme Update

Tue Jan 06 2009, 02:44PM

Tuesday January 6

Fishing was slow yesterday and the weather was crappy.  The only bright moment was midday when George caught a 192 lb. and as well as bright it was disappointing when Al lost a 225 lb.  Only two tuna all day.  There were again a couple of marlin and sharks.  The weather backed off at dark and it is nice here this morning.  The signs however do not look good at all.  It's like it was yesterday in this area.  300 lb. bank...mureto.  We have two more full days to fish.  One boat that was here left for other areas.  We are on our own.

Wish us luck.  We need it.
Tommy and crew

President Bush to add marine reserves; not all are applauding

Raccoon butterflyfish swim off Palmyra Atoll, part of three national monuments being created by President Bush. The designations will add greatly to the nearly 140,000 square miles of Pacific waters protected by Bush in 2006.

Tue Jan 06 2009, 10:37AM

Hello everyone;

Weather today was overcast skies, wind out of the north at 15 knots and cool. At 12:00 hours, with only a few Threshers hooked, and no sign of Yellowfin, it was time to make a move. We are now headed to Hurricane bank. We should arrive to the bank around lunch on the 7th of January. Wish us luck. The R/p crew.

Best Supercow Day Ever? by Bill Roecker

Tue Jan 06 2009, 10:23AM

The dust has mostly settled, but we're still chasing some numbers for big fish here at FishingVideos.com. Any late-coming information will be shared here as it becomes available. Our apologies to Izorline, who sponsored the Intrepid trip we mistakenly attributed to Accurate in yesterday's posting.

Here are the scores, by the boat, from yesterday's arrivals. It likely was the best day ever for the weighing of supercows, or tuna over 300 pounds.

American Angler had 12 tuna over 200 pounds, including four over 300.
Royal Star had three fish over 200 pounds, including a 335-pounder.
Red Rooster III had eight fish over 200 pounds, including a 311-pounder.
Intrepid caught 16 tuna over 200 pounds, including four over 300.
Excel had 24 tuna over 200 pounds, including six yellowfin over 300.
Independence found 19 cows, including four fish over 300 pounds.

Total for the day: 82 cows, including 20 supercows.

Guatemala The Great Sailfishing Company

Tue Jan 06 2009, 09:32AM

It's great !! It's awesome...............it's warm down in Guatemala !!!!

While we poor folks up North have been trying to work off the Christmas excess by shoveling snow, raking rooves and cracking ice - the fortunate few have been down well South of the Mason-Dixie experiencing lots of bluewater action.

We welcomed the Britt party over the Christmas period and quickly showed them just how good the fishing down here can be. There had been a brief cold front just before their arrival - which is often a trigger for the fish to really start feeding. Their first day out saw the blue water at 40 miles - but raising plenty of billfish - their second day the warmer currents had moved closer inshore - and so it was lines in at 20 miles or so.
